Summer Learning Journey- Teaser Task 1

WALT:For this activity,We had to create four new similes. I had to use the starters below or you can make up your own.For the next two weeks we are doing the summer learning journey teaser when we have to choose one activity to complete and post everyday.

Film Festival review

WALT: Last week we had to pick our favourite film and make a review about it 

Today I am blogging about my film festival review.We made this because last week we went to the film festival with schools all around the west coast each school had to make a small video and were to share it at the film festival then we were asked to pick the best film and make a review about it.

My Super Power

This week we had to choose a skill we are good at  and I chose baking.Every Monday a lady comes in to our class and talks about the future and what we want to be when we grow up.  Once we had chosen what we were good at we had to think about all of the skills we needed and were learning when we were doing this activity.

    

End of term reflection

This term we have been doing heaps of things like PrEP, wearable arts etc.

For PrEp we made stickers and bohemian wall  hangers,here is some photos of what we made for Prep.
For wearable arts we had to decide what we were going to make and we had made a dress, and we choose to do the sky themed dress then we had to get some blue plastic and we tied it on the dress then we got some fluff and put it around the top bit of the dress.Here is a picture of the dress

  

Earthquake Drill T4

This week we have been doing a earthquake drill.  We did it on National Shakeout day for safety reasons.
First we pretended their was an earthquake and had to go under the desk for about a minute.  Then we were told there was a possible tsunami so we had to evacuate all the buildings and then we had to run up the closest in case a tsunami happens, and we also had to teach the younger kids what to do.

Current Events Quiz

This week we have been doing current events quiz as a class. We had to write the answer on the paper then we marked it, me and my partner Ryah got 13 out of 20 questions.  

One of the questions was:

 Why were the parents of a 15-year-old
student fined $50 each by the Dunedin
District Court?

•a. the child borrowed shoes from the schools
emergency stock and never returned them
•b. the student had spilt water on one of the
schools computers
•c. the student hadn’t been turning up at school

Maths Art

This week I have been doing art for maths, we had some choices for  maths art. I chose enlargement  and I chose to do lisa from the Simpsons. We had to find out the maths behind the art and create a DLO before we could make our own enlargement art.  When we made our art the first thing we had to do was draw the squares so we could enlarge the photo we chose and then draw it with a pencil and finally colour it in with pastel. Here is my art I hope you like this .

Transform DLO

WALT: Identify and describe transformations. 

This week we have been doing Symmetry and Transformation.  Transformation is where you change shapes by reflection, rotation or translation.  Here is a puzzle I created for you. Read the instructions and try and figure it out.

Street Map Geometry

This week we have been doing a street map description when we had to create a street map that shows a variety of geometric terms. We paired up to make a map and then made up our own street names.  Finally we had to describe our map using the geometric terms we had used.  Here is my map and description.

Opinion Continuum - Possums

This week we have been doing opinion's where we had to find all the people with different opinions about possums. We then had to write them down, write our own opinion and a friend's opinion.

Wish tree poem

This week I have been doing a poem about the wish tree. we had to write things about the book this is what I have done.

The Spanish Speaking World

This term we are going to be learning Spanish.  For our first task we had to create a google map that shows ten countries that speak Spanish as their main language and we had to write a fact and include a picture. This is mine.  Did you know that Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world!

Pest Invasion

This week I have been learning about animal pests. We had to read the clues and work out what animal they were describing. This is my animal pest slide.

Poutini Legend Map

This week we had read story about Poutini Legend and how green stone was made and where he stopped.      

Statistics

Today in maths we have been learning to create graphs using google spreadsheets. We used our data from doing a blog post check. We had to look at our blog post from this whole year and see how much we have done and write down what kind of blog post we have been doing.

This graph shows I have done heaps of Literacy and Inquiry but I haven't done a blog post about blog x yet so watch this space.

My second graph shows the tools I use to make my DLO's.  I use the same tools alot so now I am going to try and use something new.
